Falling in the mud

On a trip to the northern part of Chiapas Mexico near Palenque a famous Maya ruins area. I went with a fellow missionary who with a church from the States was giving out toys for children. It was great to see the faces of these children at receiving a gift, most never receiving gifts at Christmas.During this trip we gave away over 4000 gifts, mostly in churches where pastors had invited the children in the community to come and receive their gift.

At one particular village, I was walking carrying a box of candy, the night before it had rain and the trail was full of mud. As I stepped onto the trail my feet flew out from under me and down I went. Candy flew in all direction, soaked in mud I got up and begin gathering the candy. Two youth women were watching and I jokingly said ”Its your falt” they answered ”Why is it our falt” and I explained that I was joking.

I went on to walk up the trail now a bit more careful, on arrival I notice the women had followed me to the church. I took them by the arm and brought them inside, when the service finished and they left. A few minutes later a young girl told me someone wanted to talk to me.

The young women were waiting to talk with me and told me they wanted to get close to God. I explained how and prayed with the women and went to find the pastor’s wife, as the pastor was busy. She spoke to the women and invited them to come back and planned to meet with them later.

Lesson learned – Even when you fall in the mud if you keep the right attitude God has people watching and you can lead them to Him.

Pray for these sister
